Book 1 (British version):

'Has anyone seen a toad? Neville's lost one,' she said. She had a bossy sort of voice, lots of bushy brown hair and rather large front teeth.

'We've already told him we haven't seen it,' said Ron, but the girl wasn't listening, she was looking at the wand in his hand.

'Oh, are you doing magic? Let's see it, then.'

She sat down. Ron looked taken aback. -p.79

'Whatever house I'm in, I hope she's not in it,' said Ron. -p.80

'Granger, Hermione!'

Hermione almost ran to the stool and jammed the hat eagerly on her head.

'GRYFFINDOR!' shouted the hat. Ron groaned. -p.90

A lamp flickered on. It was Hermione Granger, wearing a pink dressing-gown and a frown.

'You!' said Ron furiously. 'Go back to bed.' -p.115

'It's no wonder no one can stand her,' he said to Harry as they pushed their way into the crowded corridor.

'She's a nightmare, honestly.'

Someone knocked into Harry as they hurried past him. It was Hermione. Harry caught a glimpse of her face - and was startled to see that she was in tears.

'I think she heard you.'

'So?' said Ron, but he looked a bit uncomfortable.

'She must've noticed she's got no friends.' -p.127

'I've just thought - Hermione."

'What about her?'

'She doesn't know about the troll.'

Ron bit his lip.

'Oh, all right,' he snapped. 'But Percy'd better not see us.' -p.128

they heard something that made their hearts stop- a high, petrified scream - and it was coming from the chamber they'd just locked up.

'Oh, no,' said Ron, pale as the Bloody Baron.

'It's the girls' toilets!' Harry gasped.

'Hermione!' they said together. -p.129

Ron dropped his wand. Hermione Granger, telling a downright lie to a teacher? p.131

Hermione, however stood alone by the door, waiting for them. There was a very embarrassed pause. Then, none of them looking at each other, they all said 'Thanks', and hurried off to get plates.

But from that moment on, Hermione Granger became their friend. There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a 12-ft. mountain troll is one of them. -p.132

Hermione did a sort of jig.

'Malfoy's got detention! I could sing!'

'Don't,' Harry advised her. -p.176

'Not if I can help it,' said Hermione grimly. Flitwick told me in secret that I got a hundred and twelve per cent on his exam. They're no throwing me out after that.' -p.197

'I think we'll be able to pull the door open,' said Ron, peering over the dog's back,'Want to go first, Hermione?'

'No, I don't!' -p.200

'Devil's Snare, Devil's Snare...What did Professor Sprout say? It likes the dark and the damp -

'So light a fire!' Harry choked.

'Yes - of course - but there's no wood!' Hermione cried, wringing her hands.

'HAVE YOU GONE MAD?' Ron bellowed. 'ARE YOU A WITCH OR NOT?' -p.202

'lucky Harry doesn't lose his head in a crisis - "there's no wood," honestly. -p.202

'Yes...' said Ron softly. 'It's the only way...I've got to be taken.'

'NO!' Harry and Hermione shouted.

'That's chess!' snapped Ron. 'You've got to make some sacrifices!' p.205

With one last desperate look back at Ron, Harry and Hermione charged through the door and up the next passageway.

'What if he's - ?'

'He'll be all right,' said Harry trying to convince himself. -p.206

'But Harry - what if You-Know-Who's with him?'

'Well - I was lucky once, wasn't I? said Harry, pointing at his scar. 'I might get lucky again.'

Hermione's lip trembled and she suddenly dashed at Harry and threw her arms around him.

'Hermione!'

'Harry - you're a great wizard, you know.'

'I'm not as good as you,' said Harry, very embarrassed, as she let go of him.

'Me!' said Hermione. 'Books! and cleverness! There are more important things - friendship and bravery and - oh Harry - be careful!' p.208

'Well, I got back alright,' said Hermione.

'I brought Ron round - that took a while - and we were dashing up to the owlery to contact Dumbledore when we met him in the Entrance Hall. He already knew - he just said, "Harry's gone after him, hasn't he?" and hurtled off to the third floor.' p.218

He, Ron and Hermione passed through the gateway together.

'There he is, Mum, there he is, look!'

It was Ginny Weasley, Ron's younger sister, but she wasn't pointing at Ron.

'Harry Potter!' she squealed. 'Look, Mum! I can see - '

'Be quiet, Ginny, and it's rude to point.' p.223

Book 2 (British version) :

At that moment, there was a diversion in the form of a small, red-headed figure in a long nightdress, who appeared in the kitchen, gave a small squeal, and ran out again.

'Ginny,' said Ron in an undertone to Harry, ' My sister. She's been talking aboutyou all summer.'

'Yeah, she'll be wanting your autograph, Harry,' grinned Fred, but he caught his mother's eye and bent his face over his plate without another word. -p.31

They slipped out of the kitchen and down a narrow passageway to an uneven staircase, which zigzagged its way up through the house. On the third landing, a door stood ajar. Harry just caught sight of a pair of bright brown eyses staring at him before it closed with a snap.

'Ginny,' said Ron. 'You don't know how weird it is for her to be this shy, she never shuts up normally-' -p.35

'Oh, are you starting at Hogwarts this year?' Harry asked Ginny.

She nodded, blushing too the roots of her flaming hair, and put her elbow in the butter dish. Fortunately no one saw this except Harry, because just then Ron's elder brother Percy walked in. -p.38

'Errol!' said Ron, taking the limp owl from Percy and extracting a letter from under its wing.

'Finally - he's got Hermione's answer. I wroter to her saying we were going to try and rescue you from the Dursleys.'

- Dear Ron, and Harry if you're there,
I hope everything went all right and that Harry is OK and that you didn't do anything illegal to get him out, Ron, because that would get Harry into trouble, too. I've been really worried and if Harry is all right, will you please let me know at once, but perhaps it would be better id you used a different owl, because I think another delivery might finish your one off.
I'm very busy with school work, of course - 'How can she be?' said Ron in horror. 'We're on holiday!' - and we're going to London next Wednesday to buy my new books. Why don't we meet in Diagon Alley? Let me know what's happening as soon as you can, love from Hermione -p.39

The crowd cheered and clapped and Harry found himself being presented with the entire works of Gilderoy Lockhart. Staggering slightly under their weight, he managed to make his way out of the limelight to the edge of the room, where Ginny was standing next to her new cauldron.

'You have these,' Harry mumbled to her, tipping the books into the cauldron. 'I'll buy my own-' p.50

'Leave him alone, he didn't want all that!' said Ginny. It was the first time she had spoken in front of Harry. She was glaring at Malfoy.

'Potter, you've got yourself a girlfriend!' drawled Malfoy.

Ginny went scarlet as Ron and Hermione fought their way over, both clutching stacks of Lockhart's books. -p.50

'You're not telling me you did fly here?' said Hermione, sounding almost as severe as Professor McGonagall.

'Skip the lecture,' said Ron impatiently, 'and tell us the new password.'

'It's "wattlebird," said Hermione impatiently, 'but that's not the point - ' -p.66

'Why,' demanded Ron, seizing her timetable, 'have you outlined all Lockhart's lessons in little hearts?'

Hermione snatched the timetable back, flushing furiously. -p.75

Ron plunged his hand into his robes pulled out his wand, yelling, 'You'll pay for that one, Malfoy!' and pointed it furiously under Flint's arm at Malfoy's face.

A loud bang echoed around the stadium and a jet of green light shot out of the wrong end of Ron's wand, hitting him in the stomach and sending him reeling backwards onto the grass. -p.87

'Ron! Ron! Are you all right?' squealed Hermione.

'Nearly there, Ron,' said Hermione, as the gamekeeper's cabin came into view.

'You'll be all right in a minute...almost there...' -p.87

'I don't think there's anything to do except wait for it to stop,' said Hermione anxiously, watching Ron bend over the basin.

'That's a difficult curse to work at the best of times, but with a broken wand...' -p.88

'I - don't - like - spiders,' said Ron tensely.

'I never knew that,' said Hermione, looking at Ron in surprise.

'You've used spiders in potions loads of times...'

'I don't mind them dead,' said Ron, who was carefully looking anywhere but at the window, 'I just don't like the way they move...'

Hermione giggled.

'It's not funny,' said Ron fiercely. 'If you must know, when I was three, Fred turned my - my teddy bear into a dirty great spider because I broke his toy broomstick.' -p.117

'Hermione - you're not supposed to be in here,' said Ron, shielding his eyes against the light. -p.158

'Just a Get Well card,' said Hermione hastily, trying to poke it out of sight, but Ron was too quick for her.

He pulled it out, flicked it open and read aloud: 'To Miss Granger, wishing you a speedy recovery, from your concerned teacher, Professor Gilderoy Lockhart, Order of Merlin, Third Class, Honourary Member of the Dark Force Defense League and five times winner of Witch Weekly's Most-Charming-Smile Award.' -p.170

Ron looked up at Hermione, disgusted. 'You sleep with this under your pillow?' -p.171

Hot all over at the thought of being given a Valentine in front of a queue of first years, which happened to include Ginny Weasley, Harry tried to escape. -p.177

'His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad,

His hair is as dark as a blackboard.

I wish he was mine, he's really divine.

The hero who conquered the Dark Lord?' -p.178

'Hermione!' Ron groaned.

Hermione lay utterly still, her eyes open but glassy. -p.190

Ron, however, was looking happier than he'd looked in days.

'It won't matter that we never asked Myrtle, then!' he said to Harry.

'Hermione'll probably have all the answers when they wake her up!' -p.211

He couldn't not go, not now they had found the entrance to the Chamber, not if there was even the faintest, slimmest, wildest chance that Ginny might be alive. -p.222

Book 3 (British version) :

Ginny caught Harry's eye and they both turned away to hide their laughter. -p.57

'Ron,' hissed Hermione, pointing at Professor Lupin, 'be careful...' -p.64

'Who's that?'

'Who's that?'

'Ginny?'

'Hermione?'

'What are you doing?'

'I was looking for Ron - '

'Come in and sit down - '

'Not here!' said Harry hurriedly. 'I'm here!' -p.65

'Ron, cheer up,' said Hermone, pushing a dish of stew toward him.

'You heard what Professor McGonagall said.' -p.84

'You asked us a question and she knows the answer! Why ask if you don't want to be told?' -p.129

Ginny Weasley, blushing furiously, turned up with a 'get well' card she had made herself, which sang shrilly unless Harry kept it shut under his bowl of fruit. -p.137

'Er - shall I make a cup of tea?' said Ron. Harry stared at him.

'It's what my mum does whenever someone's upset,' Ron muttered shrugging. -p.163

'Yeah, it will,' said Ron fiercely.

'You won't have to do all the work alone this time, Hermione. I'll help.'

'Oh, Ron!'

Hermione flung her arms around Ron's neck and broke down completely. Ron looking quite terrified, putted her awkwardly on the top of the head. -p.215

Harry and Ron both made furious moves towards Malfoy, but Hermione got there first - SMACK!

She had slapped Malfoy around the face with all the strength she could muster. Malfoy staggered. Harry, Ron, Crabbe, and Goyle stood flabbergasted as Hermione raised her hand again.

'Don't you dare call Hagrid pathetic, you foul - you evil - '

'Hermione!' said Ron weakly, and he tried to grab her hand as she swung it back.

'Get off, Ron!' -p.216

'Hermione!' Ron said again, sounding both stunned and impressed. -p.217

'She hasn't gone to get it?' Ron said, staring after her.

She had. Hermione returned a quarter of an hour later with the silvery cloak folded carefully under her robes.

'Hermione, I don't know what's got into you lately!' said Ron, astounded.

'First you hit Malfoy, then you walk out on Professor Trelawney - '

Hermione looked rather flattered. -p.239-240

Book 4 (British version) :

Both of them smiled at Harry, who grinned back, which made Ginny go scarlet - she had been very taken with Harry ever since, his first visit to the Burrow. -p.51

'What happened?' said Hermione anxiously, stopping so abruptly that Harry walked into her.

'Ron where aare you? Oh, this is stupid - Lumos!' -p.109

'Never mind, Ron,' said Hermione quickly, seizing Ron's arm to restrain him as he took a step towards Malfoy. -p.110

'Those poor Muggles, though' said Hermione nervously.

'What if they can't get them down?'

'They will,' said Ron reassuringly, 'they'll find a way.' -p.115

'Oh, c'mon, 'Er-my-knee,' said Ron, accidentally spraying Harry with bits of Yorkshire pudding.

'Oops - sorry, 'Arry - ' he swallowed.

'You won't get them sick leave by starving yourself!' -p.161-162

'Treacle tart, Hermione!' said Ron, deliberately wafting its smell towards her.

'Spotted dick, look!, Chocolate gateau!' -p.162

'You're eating again, I notice,' said Ron, watching Hermione add liberal amounts of jam to her buttered toast. -p.171

'Well, that won't matter if they turn out to cure sea sickness or something, will it?' said Ron, grinning slyly at her.

'You know perfectly well I only said that to shut Malfoy up,' said Hermione.

'As a matter of fact I think he's right. The best thing to do would be to stamp on the lot of them before they start attacking us all.'

They sat down at the Gryffindor table and helped themselves to lamp chops and potatoes. Hermione began to eat so fast that Harry and Ron stared at her.

'Er - is this the new stand on elf rights?' said ron. 'You're going to make yourself puke instead?'

'No,' said Hermione with as much dignity as she could muster with her mouth bulging with sprouts.

'I just want to get to the llibrary.'

'What?' said Ron in disbelief.

Hermione - it's the first day back! We haven't even got homework yet!' -p.175

'Wonder where she's got to?' Ron said. -p.325

'I asked her to go with me just now,' said Harry dully, 'and she told me.'

Ginny had suddnly stopped smiling. -p.348

But Ron was staring at Hermione as though suddenly seeing her in a whole new light.

'Hermione, Neville's right - you are a girl...'

'Oh well spotted,' she said acidly.

'Well - you can come with one of us!'

'No, I can't,' snapped Hermione.

'Oh, come on,' he said impatiently, 'we need partners, we're going to look really stupid if we haven't got any, everyone else has...'

'I can't come with you,' said Hermione, now blushing, 'because I'm already going with someone.'

'No, you're not!' said Ron. 'You just said that to get rid of Neville!'

'Oh, did I?' said Hermione, and her eyes flashed dangerously.

'Just because it's taken you three years to notice, Ron, doesn't mean no one else has spotted I'm a girl!'

Ron stared at her. Then he grinned again.

'OK, OK, we know you're a girl,' he said.

'That do? Will you come now?'

'I've already told you!' Hermione said, very angrily.

'I'm going with someone else!' -p.348-349

'Right,' said Ron, who looked extremely put out, 'this is getting stupid. Ginny, you can go with Harry, and I'll just - '

'I can't,' said Ginny and she went scarlet too. -p.349

'Hermione,' said Ron, looking sideways at her, suddenly frowning, 'your teeth...' -p.352

'No, I mean they're different to how they were before before he put that hex on you...they're all...straight and - normal-sized.' -p.352

'Right,' said Ron, looking around. 'Where's Hermione?' -p.358

'Well, if you don't like it, you know what the solution is, don't you?' yelled Hermione; her hair was coming down out of its elegant bun now, and her face was screwed up in anger.

'Oh yeah?' Ron yelled back. 'What's that?'

'Next time there's a ball, ask me before someone else does, and not as a last resort!' -p.376

'I told you!' Ron hissed at Hermione, as she stared down at the article.

'I told you not to annoy Rita Skeeter! She's made you out to be some sort of - of scarlet woman!'

Hermione stopped looking astonished and snorted with laughter.

'Scarlet woman?' she repeated, shaking with suppressed giggles as she looked round at Ron.

'It's what my mum calls them,' Ron muttered, his ears going red again. -p.445

'There's something funny, though,' said Hermione ten minutes later, holding her pestle suspended over a bowl of scarab beetles. 'How could Rita Skeeter have known...?'

'Known what?' said Ron quickly. 'You haven't been mixing up Love Potions, have you?'

'Don't be stupid,' Hermione snapped, starting to pound up her beetles again. 'No, it's just...how did she know Viktor asked me to visit him over the summer?'

Hermione blushed scarlet as she said this, and determinedly avoided Ron's eyes.

'What?; said Ron, dropping his pestle with a loud clunk.

'He asked me right after he'd pulled me out of the lake,' Hermione muttered.

'After he'd got rid of his shark's head. Madam Pomfrey gave us both blankets and then he sort of pulled me away from the judges so they wouldn't hear and he said if I wasn't doing anything over the summer, would I like to - '

'And what did you say?' said Ron, who had picked up his pestle and was grinding it on the desk , a good six inches from his bowl, because he was looking at Hermione.

'And he did say he'd never felt the same way about anyone else,' Hermione went on, going as red now that Harry could almost feel the heat coming from her, 'but how could Rita Skeeter have heard him? She wasn't there... or was she? Maybe she has got an Invisibility Cloak, maybe she sneaked into the grounds to watch the second task...'

'And what did you say?' Ron repeated, pounding his pestle down so hard that it dented the desk. -p.445-446

Book 5 (British version):

'And this is Nymphadora - '

'Don't call me Nymphadora, Remus,' said the young witch with a shudder, 'it's Tonks.'

'Nymphadora Tonks, who prefers to be known by her surname only,' finished Lupin.

'So would you if your fool mother had called you Nymphadora,' muttered Tonks. -p.49

'Oh, hello, Harry!' said Ron's younger sister, Ginny, brightly. ' I thought I heard your voice.' -p.66

'Yeah, size is no guarantee of power,' said George. 'Look at Ginny.'

'What d'you mean?' said Harry.

'You've never been on the receiving end of one of her Bat-Bogey Hexes, have you?' -p.94

and many more coming soon! :D
